Brief Bio for Rev. Philip Sommer, DMin.
Beginning November 2, 2008 Dr. Sommer will began leading worship as our part-time supply minister. He will be living in McCoole during his time with us (two or three days per week). He can be reached at the church by calling 304 355 8614.
He lives in Stephens City, Virginia with his wife, Kathleen. Together they have operated a part time catering business, K&P Hospitality, since 2003. They have four grown children and two grandchildren.
Dr. Sommer graduated from Moravian College in 1967 with a BA in History; in 1970 he received his MDiv degree from Princeton Theology Seminary, and in 1981 he earned his doctorate from McCormick Theological Seminary. At the present time he serves Shenandoah Presbytery as a member of the Permanent Judical Commission, is chair of the Divesture Task Force, and has participated in two mission trips to Baja with Kathleen and others from the Presbytery.
He has served churches in Maryland, New Jersey, and Virginia.
